Tatu, the Swahili word for "3". symbolizing the trio format that is the center of this project. The three main themes of this project are Hope, Home, and Heart.

Kamala's Groove - inspired by the historic journey of first Black Vice President, Kamala Harris, with connections to my home of Oakland, CA. The hope, pride, and purpose in her walk into the White House on Inauguration Day inspired the feel of the piece.

Sometimes We Laugh, Sometimes We Cry - A cover of the Drake hit featuring Lil Durk. I love the melody and chord progression and wanted to give it a different feel in the trio format. Jazz has traditionally taken and borrowed from the current hits of the times and this is a tribute and continuation of that lineage.

Adams Point - a dedication to a beautiful neighbourhood in Oakland,CA near Lake Merrit I have been strolling through for years. This feels like a walk around the neighbourhood on a vibrant sunny day.

La Mer- inspired by a sample and enhanced by layers of the trio. I can feel ocean breeze and sailing on the Bay on a yacht with this.

Kiki - Kiki means Hope in the Mandinga language, which is native to Gambia, where the featured musician Karamo on the Kora is from. This was basically an improvisation after I met brother Karamo playing on the streets earlier that day and invited him to the studio. Amazing musician.
